The Sonoran Science Academy Chapter of the National Honor Society is working hard this year to fulfill the high calling of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. We will continue the coin drive to raise money for the American Leukemia Society. We have adopted San Joaquin Road, which runs parallel to the school from Sunset to Orange Grove Road. We are also working to fill the needs of the school and community by organizing a College/Career Fair this coming Spring.
We are currently accepting applications for new membership from Sophmores, Juniors, and Seniors with an unweighted cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher. Students should have completed 15 hours of community service and demonstrate leadership and character. Complete the application attached below and submit it to the NHS Advisor, Mrs. Amanda Hanson in room 134, by September 30th. No late applications will be accepted. A ceremony to induct new members will be held in October. Invitations will be mailed out.
This year's officers are:
President: Charis Springhower
Vice-president: Ivan Castro-Ornelas
Secretary: Elizabeth Young
Treasurer: Zachary Wellington
Historian: Taylor Brestel
Meetings for the enitre membership will be held on Wednesdays during lunch in room 134.
